Time: 3:00am Weather: Cool & Clear, slight breeze Season: Late Winter/ Pre-Spring
…….
Yukiko stood upon one of the many cliffs jetting out from the mountain side. One leg posed forward while her ice blue eyes looked upon the vast horizon of the lands. She could see the great city of Gidan out upon the earth. Alit with a dim glow of bonfires, campfires, torches and other effects in it’s deep maze of walls and houses. Not far beyond that was a even greater glow. The Tiger village was no doubt having a celebration on their own behalf she frowned to herself.
“ FUCKING NEKO’S!” She shouted. Her voice echoing crossed the range. Some of her men had met with the tiger/cat clan earlier that day during a hunting trip to the plains…. And well. Lets just say it didn’t end well for the wolf pack that had been there. If Yukiko had been there then it would have been different, or so she told herself. Though the odds were a giant tiger going after a average sized wolf… wouldn’t of ended pretty anyway….
Locks of blue fell from their tie as she removed the chopsticks to redo her messed up, tomboyish bun once more. Clawed hands working nimbly and with grace despite the woman’s strong stance. Something so graceful and strong had very rarely been seen in the pack before. No wonder their past alpha had chosen this woman to be their beta and now strong and fearless leader. With a huff and a quick turn she headed back off to scour the land for any sign of food, she had a pack to feed still.

Ah what a lovely day it was turning out to be, the wind was gentle and the temperature was starting to pick up some now after their cold winter days. Perfect flying weather, well at least for him. Unfortunately he wouldn't be able to manage much flying with the large sack of assorted goods he had slung over his shoulder so the sooner he found that village that was around here the better. He'd smelt cats a while back and the last thing he wanted to do was run into them, he wasn't sure if it was because he was a bird at heart or due to the fact that the specific cats around here weren't likely to appreciate him being around but either way he'd much rather take his chances with the dogs.
He took another bite out of the rice ball he was carrying, listening to the shout rolling over the wind. Well seemed he was getting closer to the village or had at least stumbled across someone sharing his dislike for the felines. He gave a shrug, closing his eyes as he took another bite and continued to walk. Well knowing wolf's and such he was probably going to run into a patrol sooner or later if he just wandered around their territory, no point getting worked up about finding the village on such a nice day anyway.

Yukiko stopped and lowered herself down behind some boulders as she sensed a demon coming closer into her lands. Ice blue eyes watched as a Tengu appeared. Strolling along the rocky path. She emitted a low growl before suddenly leaping atop the rock with a wolfish grace.
“ Karasu!! Oi! What the hell are you doing in -MY- territory!” She barked out to him. Her demonic claws glittering under the low light of the moon. Her tail swished a bit in anxiousness.
“ Speak quick or my pack will be eating Tengu tonight.” She smirked coyly to the beast.

Takehito turned at this, first to the suddenly appearing wolf and then behind him, just to to make sure he was the one being addressed. Well it was obvious he was unless he'd neglected to notice he was traveling with another Tengu or crow in tow, but he couldn't resist a little play at innocence.
"Oh, greetings there, I'm a traveling merchant looking for trade and possibly shelter for a night or two." He explained quickly, giving a graceful bow at the end and swinging the sack round to rest at his feet in one movement. Her territory huh? Either she was a proud one or he'd run into a leader type, what luck. Dealing with subordinates always took so long and then you'd have to deal with the leaders anyway afterwards. Though he couldn't help but look up at the second comment, letting a slightly pained look cross his face.
"I would hope you wouldn't be quite so fast to snack on me, I know I look tasty and all but there was a reason I didn't head to the feline territory." He cocked his had a little, watching for any movements on the wolf's part. If needs be he'd be out of there pretty fast, well after toying around with her a bit if he had to leave, but he didn't much fancy the idea of kipping in the human village. He didn't think too much of them as a whole, far too gullible.

“ Hn? Felines… eh! Those vile things. They all need to be chased off, they hog the good hunting grounds for their self! “ She shouted as her eyes seemed alit with inner fire.
“ What’cha got Karasu? I have everything I need, what can you provide me for trade?” She asked roughly for a female figure. Acting more maleish then anything.

"Ah yes, if only we could be rid of the kitties altogether, though wolfs not tend to sit on the menu of the smaller neko's." Takehito sighed a little, cats were always trouble, without exception every time he'd met one something bad would happen soon after. Though generally it was his own fault for trying to steal from them or the like but you know, hardly the point. They should be less good at spotting him. He perked up when being asked what he had, quickly rooting through the sack before him.
"Awww, but my clearly very mighty wolf acquaintance, if you think you have everything you let the true treasures pass you by. Like...this." He produced a small wrapped bundle from the sack and carefully unwrapped it. Once it was unwrapped he held up the ningyō doll contained within. It was clearly a high quality piece of woodwork and had been painstakingly painted, resembling a noble hero from some human tale or another. Yeah he bet it's old owner was missing it right now.
"Supposedly blessed by someone or another to grant it's owner's possessions protection from theft. Though I've never been one to believe in the superstitions of humans." He smiled a little, rubbing the dolls head lightly before turning back to the wolf. Now he was hardly expecting this to impress her at all but it was a nice little warm up.

" Doesn't seem to of worked very well if it's in your hands." Yukiko frowned at the tengu.
" Show me something useful." She instructed as she sat back on a rock. Crossing her legs and eyeing him up a bit. Even if his treasures wern't useful.... he was a bird... and birds could fly... and flying things made for good spies and message carriers. He could be useful if he could be tricked into being used that is.

"And it pains me that you'd assume it was not bantered for and traded with consent of both parties." Takehito tilted his head a bit, keeping the slight smile as he packed the doll away again. She was right of course but there was no reason to let her know that, or at least not to directly admit it.
"Useful...useful..." He muttered to himself digging through the sack once more. He pulled out a wooden box which he promptly opened up to display the contents. A set of five rather nasty looking arrows.
"Barbed and shaped in such a way that pulling them out leaves a nasty mess. Probably best suited to poisoning I guess, though that'd be something I don't carry with me. Hard to make trade when you've got a sack full of poison don't you agree?"

“ Poison is useful to those that can’t naturally make it.” The wolf sighed as she stood up and turned around.
“ Good enough, you can stay here for a night with the trade of the arrows. Harm the pack, and your dead so don’t get any funny ideas. “ She barked like a general. Her tail swayed as she made her way back towards her clans den. Skillfully making her way up the mountain ridge as if it was nothing.

Takehito quickly replaced the box and slung the sack back over his shoulder before moving after the wolf, hopping easily up the steeper parts of the ridge as he went.
"Then I'd be wasting a set of arrows and dead, not a very good trade. I'll save my shenanigans for the humans, they don't tend to enjoy you for dinner if they don't see the funny side." He assured her. Boy she was a tough one, hopefully he'd be able to find some more a little less...well angry. Sure she might well like to trade for some of his other weapons but he had some more things like the doll to shift as well and he really didn't see her as a doll person.

As the two walked back towards the den a small canine youkai about 15 years old ran up to the two from a steep tilt on the mountain side. The girl skid down as if she was surfing on the loose rocks. White hair glimmering upon the sunlight as golden eyes looked up to the alpha.
“ What are you doing out here you little rat!” She snapped. Kicking her foot at the young dog girl who jumped back in fright seeing the obvious sour mood of the Alpha. She gulped a bit. The only reason she was allowed to stay around was she was useful as bait for wild animals and such. The wolves of the pack looked down upon the dog youkai and other species as if they were less then what they were.
“ I, I checked the fronts, all clear.” She chirped up as the female scowled.
“ That’s not your job. Where’s that beta of mine?” She barked looking about. She hadn’t seem him for some time now matter of fact she thought to herself.

Takehito watched the little scene with some interest, feeling sorry for the little dog girl having to put up with the angry wolf woman. He gave the young girl a smile before glancing at Yukiko and rolling his eyes when she wasn't looking. If he saw the girl later on he figured he'd give her one of his dolls, little kind gesture for having to put up with the alpha, she didn't seem like the type he'd hang around for the simple pleasure of it. A night's rest and some trading yes, not so much for conversation, though maybe he'd just caught her on an off day.
Well, best stay out of the firing line for now and stay quiet. No point enticing the fangs of the wolfy one.

Makoto heard the Alpha's angry call and levered himself up from where he had been sat atop a boulder, staring off into the valleys below their mountinous home. He climbed rapidly for such a large man and was quickly stood on the slope just below the path Yukiko and the stranger stood on. He spoke in quiet placid voice in contrast to Yukiko's angry voice.
"I was just down the slope, keeping an eye on the approaches to our home. What do you need?"

“ We need food, we have a guest and I suppose we should feed him as well as our own stomachs. No thanks to those cats the earlier hunt was a failure. “ She told the mountain of a man with a sigh as she crossed her arms a bit.
Kaze looked to the man who rolled his eyes. Moveing her hands before her as if to say don’t do that before the Alpha see’s but quickly stopped as Yukiko shot Kaze a dangerous look.
“ Take the pet dog for bait if you need any for the hunt. “ The Alpha muttered as she hoisted herself over a rock and slowly drew closer and closer to the den.

Takehito couldn't help but smile at the girl's attempts to hush his actions, guess that at least proved they help a lot of respect for their leader, though probably more through fear than a winning personality. Again he felt a little sorry for the girl but that was how things worked, heck the lesser birds in his clan probably had it worse.
"Oh don't mind me, I can feed myself if needs be. I don't mean to impose more than I already am." he spoke up, giving the beta a cursory glance as he came up. He seemed a bit calmer at least, maybe more open to bantering for some of his other stuff.
